One of the most enjoyable parts of traveling around Italy is the opportunity to observe the disinct regional differences that give identity to this confederation of city states. These differences can be seen especially in their cooking, with each region and town having its own signature dishes.
Holiday time, too, is a time where Italians show off their individuality, and at Easter that means families will go to their local pasticeria to buy a traditional colomba - the sweet, dove shaped cake that is a symbol of peace and a sign that spring is around the corner.
We are pleased to bring you colomba baked by our good friends at Sorelle Nurzia in l'Aquila, Abruzzo. Rita's colomba are much sought after and can be seen in the windows of shops in l'Aquila and beyond.
We have ordered a limited number of colomba, so we urge you to pre-order one today in order to ensure you will have one this Easter. You can order here online (you will get a message indicating that they are out of stock, but go ahead and back order it and we will notify you when they arrive). We expect our colomba to arrive the first week of April.
If you prefer, you can pre-order by phone (301-654-2667) or by dropping by the store.
