We at Bella Italia endorse the philosphy and objectives of the Slow Food movement, an international organization dedicated to countering the negative effects of the fast food culture. We cater to customers who share our belief that life is too important to rush through - we need to slow down and smell the roses (or espresso, or truffles or sugo bolognese). The desire to live life fully, to experience la dolce vita, is precisely what appeals to us about the Italian experience and it is those elements of the Italian experience that we try to share with our customers.
In its website, Slow Food U.S.A., the American chapter of Slow Food, states that "[r]ecognizing that the enjoyment of wholesome food is essential to the pursuit of happiness, Slow Food U.S.A. is an educational organization dedicated to stewardship of the land and ecologically sound food production; to the revival of the kitchen and the table as centers of pleasure, culture, and community; to the invigoration and proliferation of regional, seasonal culinary traditions; and to living a slower and more harmonious rhythm of life."
We agree and are proud to be members of Slow Food and to support their efforts. We urge you to do likewise.
Buon Appetito!
