Many travellers to Italy dream of buying a house and moving there to live the life of Diane Lane. Well we've gone half way, buying a historic eight bedroom farmhouse in the tiny farming village of Cannara, situated in the shadow of Assisi, the birthplace of St. Francis. Only half way, because we haven't moved there (yet).
Our loss is your gain. The villa, la Fattoria del Gelso, is available for rent by the week, Saturday to Saturday, throughout the year. We offer customized tours for groups throughout the year. We also have limited spaces left in the second week (October 27 - November 3) of our Umbrian Food & Wine Tour -- an Italophile's culinary dream vacation -- in 2012. | Chef Simone Has Landed! |
Fresh off a round of dinners and cooking lessons in San Francisco, Chef Simone Proietti-Pesci has returned to the Washington area. Although his schedule of private dinners here is fully booked, you can still learn about the wonders of Italian cuisine by stopping by Bella Italia this Sunday, January 22nd from 1pm - 4pm for a special reception with Simone. We will be sampling special dishes highlighting truffles, Sagrantino wine and traditional Umbrian confections. We encourage you to ask him about our Umbrian Food & Wine tours as well; his restaurant, Le Delize Del Borgo, has been a staple of our visits there and a favorite of everybody who has stayed at our villa, La Fattoria Del Gelso. Admission is free but reservations are required. Please call (301) 654-2667 to RSVP as space is limited.

| Gerardo Ribigini Vists Bella Italia |
In February, we will be hosting acclaimed Italian ceramicist Gerardo Ribigini at Bella Italia for a series of special events. Gerardo is the owner of Geribi, one of Deruta's premier ceramics studios with a world wide customer following. His awe inspiring patterns are instantly recognizable and have been a perennial favorite of Bella Italia customers for years. Join us on Saturday, February 4th for a special reception celebrating Gerardo's visit, featuring a presentation on his work at 6:00pm as well as live demonstrations by the artist himself throughout the day from 1:00pm to 4:00pm.
